Presentations Skills is a 8-week course that will improve your English ability while helping you master the skills that are important for job interviews, university applications process, IELTS TOEFL exam takers. The course is designed for individuals who have a foundation in English, but who do not often have an opportunity to practice their speaking. It is for Intermediate and Advanced students.
Class 1: Self-Introduction
The PowerBite is our term for the basic unit of communications in English. It is a the most common structure used in English communications. In this class we will introduce the PowerBite and work to build one that introduces you and who you are. We want to make sure that you give a great first impression in that job interview, critical meeting or university interview. We will also spend time reviewing the common errors that Chinese speakers make in English.
Class 2: Speaking Cadence, Rhythm and Tonality
In this class we will introduce continue to develop our PowerBite and practice delivering it. We will introduce voice exercises to develop the proper cadence and speaking rhythms, that are so important to English fluency. We will also review the common errors that Chinese speakers make in English.
Class 3: Story Telling
Storytelling is a powerful way to connect with others. It creates a sense of empathy and understanding between the storyteller and the audience of employees, customers and business partners. To become an effective storyteller, one needs to understand the elements of a good story; this class is your starting point. We will continue to review the common errors that Chinese speakers make in English.
Class 4: Personal Stories
Personal stories are critical to your career success and to building your reputation inside your company and your industry. They are also critical for interviews for jobs, universities or internships. By creating a compelling personal story, you can connect with others, inspire change, and create a lasting impact. We will review main difference between British and American English, numbers and dates.
Class 5: Presentations Development
So, you now have a story. But how to present it with impact? How to capture the attention of your customers? Your channel partners? This class starts you on the journey of learning how to tell your story, while we continue to work on proper pronunciation, cadence and rhythm.
Class 6: Reducing The Sauce
We continue developing our presentation this week focusing on identifying the critical messages that you need to communicate. We call this “reducing the sauce”. Yes, it is challenging, but at the end we have this wonderful presentation that, like the best sauces, bubbles with deep insights, messages and fun.
Class 7: Body Language, Voice, Projection
You have a great presentation in hand. How do you deliver it with confidence? How do you achieve the impact that you need? How do you wow them in that interview? Let’s learn how!
Class 8: It's Show Time
Hey!! It is Showtime and you are going to deliver your presentation to the world. It is going to include your self-introduction and your personal story. We will video it for you so that you can continue to work on everything that we have covered in our journey to better English communications.
